Thida C. Khus
SILAKA’s Executive Director/Trainer/Consultant, has over 20 years of hand on management and organizational development experiences in Cambodia and in the United States. During her services in human services in San Antonio and in Washington DC, USA, the organizations received numerous awards for excellent services to the community and in good management of volunteers’ resources by The Texas Department of Human Resources and the National Association for the Advancement of Education of Cambodian, Lao and Vietnamese Americans. She founded SILAKA and continues to lead SILAKA’s professional team to implement the innovation strategy and support services to partners in the government department and local institutions in Cambodia. She also sat on the Executive Committee of Social Watch International and LDC Watch International to advance the observation of human rights. In 2006, she has moved to become the Secretary General for the Committee to Promote Women in Politics in Cambodia, advocating for equal participation of women in the process of development and in decision making, using CEDAW, and the MDGs. She serves as the Chairperson and Board Members of several national organizations and active in local scene among civil society actors in the country.
Mr. Heng Vannarith
Mr. Heng Vannarith has been with SILAKA since 1997. He had previous 4 years experiences as the head of the Training Sub-Department of the Cambodian Red Cross. Prior to this position, he spent 6 years as a Mathematics teacher in a high school. Vannarith had extensive adult training experiences and is also in charge to coordinate all trainers in the development and delivery of capacity building curriculum and activities to meet client’s needs. He is also SILAKA’s leading trainer on grassroots advocacy skills that include Participatory Action Research and Advocacy Strategy. He also facilitates planning process and institutional strategic planning. Mr. Vannarith has a BA degree in Mathematics, and was trained in Participatory Action Research in Indonesia and Advocacy strategy skills in the Philippines.
Ms. Vary Khus
Ms. Khus Vary joined the SILAKA Administrative department as the new Administrative Supervisor in 2006. Vary has maintained an active participation with community involvement activities in Cambodia including Japan Relief as an English Language Instructor for 2 provincial orphanages in Cambodia and helped design and produced an English Language Insert for the leading English Language Newspaper, the Cambodia Daily. Vary has wide experiences in customer service, administrative, and supervisory work and brings to SILAKA Administrative team. She has over 14 years in the service industry and finance industry, where she coordinated and supported a range of customer service initiatives with the leading banking institution, Chase Manhattan Bank, and Providian Financial. She was rapidly promoted to management positions, due to her very strong commitment to meeting customers' needs and her ability to help teams work effectively.
Mr. Ouk Chanvuthy
Mr. Ouk Chanvuthy is SILAKA Lead Trainer since 2000. He has brought in SILAKA the private business experiences perspective. He has BA in Business Administration and was trained in the University of Hanoi, under the program of MPDF in 2001, on Business skills curriculum and training methodology. He also received hand on training experiences with the Super T training methodology by a team of international professors in Thailand. Mr. Chanvuthy is SILAKA’s trainer for TOT; Project Planning, Design & Management; Proposal Development; Monitoring and Evaluation and Finance trainer; and Marketing. He develops tailored curriculum on his area of specialties.
Mr. Sey Visoth
Mr Sey Visoth has worked for SILAKA since 2001. Mr. Visoth had 3 years experiences on Commune Decentralization as program assistant. Visoth attended San Francisco University to learn on commune-Sangkat Election and Decentralization Laws in 2002, Peace Building course at CDRI, and the Super T training methodology by a team of international professors in Thailand. He worked in communities with the group of Conflict Transformation (Metathor) in Peace Building. He represented SILAKA in NGO meeting. Recently, he was elected by 38 cooperation NGOs members of Star Kampuchea as Chief of Coordinating Group of Advocacy Team (AT), where he served for 2 years. Mr. Visoth provides support to SILAKA program team in curriculum development, community outreach, report writing, and training assistant in conflict mediation and Active Non Violence.
Mr. Sak Sothea
Mr. Sak Sothea is an experienced Trainer in peace building and conflict resolution. He joined SILAKA in 2003 working on the Conflict Transformation/Mentor Program, as Program Assistant/Trainer. He has involved in consulting services for JICA, ADB, UNIFEM, UNESCAP, as organizer of special events. He also has experiences in providing training on Basic Leadership skills, Decision-making, Facilitation and Minutes taking to local committees’ member in SILAKA's partnership with Care Cambodia in Prey Veng. He holds a MSc. on Political Sciences from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia and a BA on History at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He has also built his expertise in gender and women empowerment through political participation.
Ms. Kong Sary
Ms. Kong Sary have worked as a Pedagogical Research Department (Curriculum Develop office ) Ministry of Education youth and Sport Science 1995 as a writer of textbook and TM guidelines before joining SILAKA training team.
She have worked as a researcher and usually conducted the training on how to use the book and also monitored teachers, Product test Evaluation and Teaching Aid book, write the Life skill, Project Work as Pedagogical researcher with Save Children Norway in almost of the 24 provinces.
Presently Ms. Sary is the Trainer in SILAKA. She provides training facilitation in Office skills, Leadership, Monitoring and Evaluation, Report Writing, Project Management, Leadership, Communication Skills and Empowerment of women in better decision making skills.
Ms. Sary holds MSc. On of Chemistry University of Dagestan 1995 (Russia) and a Master of Science in Vocational Education of Technical University Dresden 2003 (Germany).
Ms. Mech Samphors
Samphors is a graduate of RUPP wi Prior to coming to SILAKA, Samphors worked with a variety of institutions including Dielthem Co. Ltd. She was also a Marketing Assistant and a Researcher at the Buddhist Institute. Samphors has a Bachelor of Art (BA) in Philosophy and a Master of Art (MA) graduate in Cultural Studies. She joined SILAKA as the Gender Equality Offer in 2006. She later made a lateral move to a position of Program Assistant for the CPWP Project. Currently, Samphors has gone on to serve as the Communications Officer for the CPWP Project.
Mr. Svay Sochea
After having earned his Bachelor Degree of Art in the field of Khmer Literature, Sochea served as Part-time volunteer staff of ASPECA organization. In 2001, he balanced his position as Professorship and a position as an Assistant to a Member of Parliament. While at the University, he lectured Khmer journalism before moving on to a promising position as a Program Coordinator of Women For Prosperity. He later joined SILAKA training team in 2003 as a Trainer. Sochea brings to SILAKA a variety if experience and eagerness to contribute to the development of Cambodia human resources. Shortly after joining SILAKA, he participated in several SILAKA initiatives including the Local Administration And Reform (LAAR) and World Bank PECSA Project’s 1st Social Accountability School. Sochea’s dedication and hard work has assisted him in moving up to a management position. As a Gender Equality Officer, he assists in the coordination of WOW project on the Outreach of Indigenous Communities in 6 provinces under the guidance of the Executive Director.
Ms. Ouk Samath
Miss. Ouk Samath is a 3rd year student at Human Resource University where she is seeking her BA in English. Before joining SILAKA in 2008 as part of the CPWP Program as the new Network Officer, Miss. Samath was working as an Assistant in the Supply Chain Department for the British American Tobacco Company.
Ms. Mam Sarana
Miss. Mam Sarana has joined CPWP Secretariat as a volunteer in late 2007. She graduate with a BA in Accounting. She was volunteering with CPWP in helping around the office in many of CPWP activities. She has enjoyed her work and has blossom to be an important member of the staff. She has become full time Administrator and office support in August 08.
Ms. Sin Sokunthea

Mrs. Sin Sokunthea is a graduate with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration in the field of Accounting and Finance. Sokunthea is an experienced Finance Officer, implementing fund accounting for NGOs. Before joining SILAKA, she worked with Youth for Peace for 5 years, another local NGO based in Phnom Penh. Currently at SILAKA, Sokunthea heads SILAKA Finance Department and is directly responsible for maintaining and overseeing the Finance Team. She leads the team to make the transition from Quick book to a computerized accounting system with Peach Tree system.
Mr. Chan Bunthoeun
Mr. Chan Buntheoun has a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. He has been with SILAKA since 2002 as a volunteer in Administration Department. He was later promoted to be a full time staff in 2004 as an Information Assistant. He assisted SILAKA professional staff in maintaining and solving all IT problems in SILAKA's computer system, and maintaining internal network. Bunthoeun also is responsible for assisting SILAKA in securing quality publication of materials and maintain closed working relationship with the print shops.
Ms. Heng Leakhena
Ms. Heng Leakhena is graduated with a Bachelor in Finance and Banking at the University of Law and Economic, Phnom Penh. She also Completed an Associate Degree in Banking at the Center for studies, Cooperated with the National Bank of Cambodia. Leakhena has had 3 years experiences as Accountant and Teller at Angkor Bank. She joined SILAKA in 2002 as receptionist and later moved to be an Administrative Assistant in charge of management of SILAKA support team to the operation of SILAKA. She is also monitoring the contract and payments from partners.
Ms. La Mony
Mrs. La Mony joined SILAKA in early 2007 as the Administrative Secretary position and later made a lateral move to the Bookkeeper position, where she is currently part of a 3 person Finance team. She is responsible for maintaining and Dispersing Cash Float and Advances.
Before coming to SILAKA, Mony was an Administrative Support Officer during the election for the municipality of Phnom Penh Chamber of Commerce and an Administrator of Srun Seng Co., Ltd.
Ms. Yon Makara
Miss. Yon Makara after having finished her Bachelor degree of Business Administration with focus of Accounting at Maharishi Vedic University in Prey Veng in 2005. She taught Biology at Prey Svay Secondary School in Prey Veng Province for two year. During that time she served as Volunteer staff in Seila Program, also in Prey Veng Province and work with finance officer. Her career with SILAKA started in 2006, when she joined the Training Department as a LAAR Accounting Trainer. Currently, she is serving as a Bookkeeper for the Finance Department and also a trainer Assistant on Finance.
Mr. Leng Samuth
Mr. Leng Samuth joined SILAKA in 2007 as a Training Assistant and later moving on to join the Administrative team as an Administrative Support Staff. Currently, Samuth has been promoted to be a Resource Assistant and maintains and oversees the organization materials resources and is the caretaker of the library. Prior to Joining SILAKA, he was an interpreter with World Relief-Cambodia (WR) and had carried out Socio-economic research two projects of GRET organization. Mr. Samuth is a member of the SILAKA Administrative team.
Mr. Rin Munychanto
Mr. Rin Municando earned his Bachelor Degree of Art in Buddhist Philosophy while studying abroad in from the International Tharavada Buddhist Missionary University (ITBMU) in Burma Myanmar during his stint as a Buddhist monk for over 16 years.Upon returning, to Cambodia, Municando served as a lecturer of cultural studies at Khemarak University and a guest lecturer of spiritual training (mental culture) to build peace of mind before moving on to assist SILAKA’s program department as a Volunteer Program Advisor to SILAKA in 2005. After joining SILAKA as a regular staff member, Municando held the title of Program Assistant and Translator, working on several SILAKA initiatives has since then been promoted to the position of Administrative Secretary. He is passionate about volunteerism and plays an active role in the community and serves as a member of Board of Director of Youth for Peace (YFP) and Steering Committee of Peace Forum.
Ms. Kong Sokea
Mrs. Keung Sokea is an experienced customer service representative, working in the retail sector since 2005. She is a graduate of Human Resource University where she acquired here BA in Accounting. Sokea is a new recruit joining SILAKA in 2008, where she just returned to join the work force after taking time to start a family.
Mr. Chan Sovann
Mr. Chan Sovann has been SILAKA’s Night Guard since 1999. His responsibilities include supporting the set up of the training facilities for event/training, and to make sure that the training place is tidy up every evening before the event, or the next day training. His other responsibilities include to security for SILAKA property at night.
Ms. Pin Marin
Before joining SILAKA in 2007, Miss. Pin Marin is currently studying at Build Bright University majoring Business Management. She is currently has a dual responsibility as a Day Guard and Courier for the Administrative Service Department. Though new to the NGO sector, Marin has adapted well and occasionally provides administrative and office support when required.
Ms. Chea Sreytouch
Before joining SILAKA in 2007, Mrs. Chea Sreytouch was a homemaker in the Takdol village where she resides with her family and husband of 3 years. She made a move from a garment worker to work in NGO SILAKA.
Mr. Ny Sokha
Mr. Ny Sokha joined SILAKA in 2006 as a Day Guard. In 2007, he moved on to be the Driver. Prior to joining SILAKA, Sokha was a Driver for the past 3 years. Though new to the NGO sector, Sokha has adapted well and occasionally provides administrative and office support when required.
Ms. Mao Kim Sea
Mrs. Mao Kimsea joined SILAKA in late 2007 as a cook for SILAKA. She is in charge of food preparation and dining coordination of all events and training held at SILAKA.
Mrs. Hong Sovanny
Ms. Hong Sovanny is the Trainer on Communication, Administrative Management, TOT, Reporting and Conflict Management. She has been with SILAKA since 1997. She has developed specialized curriculum and design courses on communication, training methodology and training plan, and conflict mediation. Previously, Ms. Hong Sovanny was a researcher on middle school’s Biology training curriculum and handbook from 1994 to 1999. Ms. Sovanny was a Biology professor at Boeung Trabek Hi School. She holds a BA on Biology from the University of Phnom Penh. She received additional training on Training of Trainer and Management by INWENT, Germany in 2003. She played key role in the implementation of the training with the collaboration with the Ministry of Water Resources Management. She has built additional specialization on gender issues, communication, dialogue and consensus building, and conflict mediation.
Mr. Tun Youheang
Mr. Tun Youheang rejoined SILAKA as Management Trainer in 2005. Recently, he has moved to be Project Manager for Local Administration and Reform Program, a partnership with PACT Cambodia. He was a training assistant in management and human resource development from 1997 to 1998. He holds a Master Degree in Management at the Preston University Cambodia. He was trained on TOT designed and delivered training courses appropriate to needs, time, resources, conditions, and qualifications of difference groups using participatory approach. He has practical experiences of organizational and project management while working as the director and founder of a Cambodian NGO, Rainwater Cambodia. Manages small cattle farm in Kampong Speu. He was the Project Officer of accountability project, and program assistant for Red Cross and community development program in north east province. He also was a consultant to design and deliver TOT training for government staffs on gender and agriculture for CRS staff in Svay Rieng.
Mr. Teang Sreng
Mr. Teang Sreng, a management trainer, has graduated from Built Bright University with a Master degree in Business Administration, major in General Management and a B.A on Marketing from the National Institute of Management; He is a future B.A graduate in Teacher of English from the Foreign Language (TEFL) at Royal University of Phnom Penh. He has joined SILAKA team since 2004. He is building his specialization on the TOT training, planning, and project management. He has been an active member of the training team in researching document for curriculum adaptation and development to fit partners need.
Mr. Horm Samnarng
Mr. Samnarng received his MBA from Australian English University (AEU )and in Philosophy and Psychology BA degree from English Yangon while studying in Myanmar. Samnarng also completed a higher Diploma in Buddhism in Myanmar. Shortly after returning to Cambodia, Samnarng worked as a volunteer English translator and interpreter for Dhammayetra Center for Peace. Later moved to the Cambodian Youth Center (CYC) as Vice-president and then as an English instructor and lecturer part time at Western university and Wanlan University. Before joining SILAKA in 2008, Samnarng held the Business Manager at the Friends Workshop. Mr. Samnang is being groomed to be a trainer in project planning, proposal development, and Monitoring and Evaluation classes.
Mr. Im Phanim
Before joining SILAKA, Mr. Im Phanim worked as a Training Assistant assisted in identifying materials needed in preparing material for training. He gave inputs as necessary: in course presenting, explaining, and questioning, types and collect all outputs of training and workshops. Most recently, he worked as a Community Development Facilitator and Project Assistant in the Community Development for Saboras NGOs in Battambang province for years. He has been trained on Integrated Community Development and Management Programs by partner NGOs and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science at Prek Leap National School of Agriculture. Currently he is pursuing his Master Degree in Business Administration at Preston University.
Mrs. Chan Kunthea
Mrs. Chan Kunthea graduated with a Bachelor degree in Management from National Institute of Management. She took accounting course at The National Bank of Cambodia and Ministry of Economy and Finance. She later worked with the Program Resource coordination Unit (PRCU) at the Cambodia United Nations Development Program Country office as an administrative/secretarial support to the PRC. She later moved to be an accountant at Win Computer land. She joined SILAKA in November 2004 as a Training Assistant and later moved to be a Trainer in May 01, 2006. She was trained as an in an advocacy strategy and techniques development internship program of the Southeast Asian Committee in Advocacy (SEACA) in Manila, Philippines. She serves as the Cambodia country representative to the SEACA board. She has moved to be the Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Committee to Promote Women in Politics, CPWP. She coordinates 7 organizations in planning, implementing activities to promote women in decision making position in public office since 2006.
Ms. Aum Borany
Mrs. Aum Rany graduated with a Bachelor degree in Project and Program Development Management and a Master Degree in Management at Build Bright University. She also has a diploma of Accounting and Finance at Cambodia Youth Volunteers Organization. She joined the training team on Leadership and Public Speaking at a local university. She has an experience in working as an Assistant to the Project Coordinator in implementing the action program at Supporting Children and Young People Organization, in a HIV/Aids Prevention project. Ms. Borany has brought her human skills to SILAKA in 2005, in supporting SILAKA's senior staff in the collection of information from the Ministry of Women Affairs staff and develop job descriptions to fit the new mandate of the Ministry. She is an active member of the training team on project design, monitoring and evaluation, proposal writing, and gender mainstreaming.
Mr. Yem Makara
Mr. Yem Makara is a new recruit, joining SILAKA in 2008. He graduated with a graduate Education Degree from National Institute of Education. He went to graduate with a Bachelor of Art in Sociology from the Royal University of Phnom Penh. Makara has had additional Journalist Training from the Royal University of Phnom Penh. After achieving his degree, Makara worked as a facilitator for JICA in the survey on “Public hearing survey to beneficiaries of JICA at Takeo Province”, studying upper Slakor river irrigation reconstruction plan and pond development program. Shortly after moving to work as a contribution and VHSG officer in a Health project in Kralang with Handicap International, Siem Reap province. He worked as a research assistant of PDG (Project Development Group) in an evaluation team with Seth Koma Program of Unicef . In 2004, he worked as a Teacher of English at Thamor Pouk High School in Banteay Meanchey Province. Prior to joining SILAKA, Makara has worked as a Field Supervisor for the University of Chicago Research Project (Economic Growth conducting research in Social Inequality and Environmental Change in Cambodia. He is currently trained to take on the training position as base line data collector and in monitoring and evaluating.
Mr. Um Phanna
Mr. Um Phanna started at as SILAKA photographer and Support staff, has been with SILAKA since 1999. He had training with Health Net and Posat Komas of Malaysia in photography. Phanna was given the honor of serving as one of the official photographer for the SEAsia People festival in November 2002. Since then, Phanna was later promoted to Librarian and caretaker of SILAKA material resources. During which he graduated with a BA in Business Management from Build Bright University in 2006. In 2007, Phanna efforts and determination has earned his the opportunity to advance to the position of Officer Manager. In addition to his promotion to the management position, Phanna has been given the added responsibility of supervising administrative staff and coordinating daily operations of the front office.
Ms. Men Moline
Miss. Men Moline graduated with a diploma in marketing at the National Institute of Business before earning her Bachelor degree of English literature at City University. Prior to joining SILAKA in 2008, she was an English Teacher at a local organization. Moline has been active with the implementation of the Women Outreach to Women, a project of CPWP. She is being trained to become trainer in gender mainstreaming courses.
Mr. Kry Sopheap
Mr. Kry Sopheap, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduate, is an experienced trainer with a variety of work experiences from both NGO and Local Government institutions. In 1991, he held the position of Chief of Administration at the Technical Center on the Thai border. Later moved on to hold various positions including Translator during the UNTAC period and a Deputy of Administration at the Ministry of Rural Development. He also has experiences in project management with his works with Cambodian Mine Incidence Data Base Project as a Project Manager. He then moved on to be a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at the Urban Health Project (UHP), Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Mr. Sopheap slowly transitioned back into the NGO Sector with his position at VBNK as a Management trainer. He has been active with key projects since joining SILAKA in early 2007. He is currently heading the 2nd Phase of the World Bank initiative with the PECSA Project to build capacity of civil society in social accountability and Demand for Good Governance project. In addition, Mr. Sopheap is an active member of SILAKA’s Faculty as a Senior Trainer.
Mr. Ry Sotharith
Mr.Ry Sotharith graduated with a Bachelor degree in Philosophy at Royal University of Phnom Penh is currently pursuing his Master Degree in Business Administrator at Cambodia Mekong University. He also has a Pre Master in Private Law in Royal University of Law And Economic. He participated in a training course on Civil Society by Professor from Full Bright Scholarship USA. In 2008, Sotharith joined the SILAKA Team as a Training Assistant. With him he brings his experience in working as Peer educator, Peer for service for peace, and team leader for file research for local NGOs in Cambodia.
Ms. Chan Serey
Ms. Chan Serey is a new recruit joining SILAKA in Mid 2008 as a Finance/Management Trainer. She graduated with an advanced degree in English at the University of Cambodia in Fast Track Program. Before joining SILAKA, she was working with LWF as a Personal Administrative Assistant up until recently. Ms. Chan Serey gained invaluable experience from her work with LWP in both project planning and implementation, project research and administration.
Mr. Keo Som Onn
Mr. Keo Som Onn earned his Master Degree of Finance at National University of Management (NUM) 2007 and a Bachelor Degree of Banking & Finance (NUM) in 2005. He also holds an Associate Degree of Spanish language at Republic of Cuba. Mr. Keo Sam Onn began his professional career as an Assistant to Administrative/Finance & Procurement Officer and moving and as a Deputy Chief at the International Cooperation Office. Before joining SILAKA, Mr. Keo Sam Onn served as lecturer of English at Center for Banking studies and also a member of Working Group (WG)-Accounting & Finance Officer. He joins Silaka as Financial Management Trainer in 2008.
Ven. Rin Munychanto
Venerable Rin Munychanto, an advisor to SILAKA, held a bachelor degree of arts in Buddhist Philosophy in theory and in practice from the International Tharavada Buddhist Missionary University (ITBMU) in Burma. He is a member of the Cambodian Peace Forum and also sits on two local organization's Board of Directors of YFP (Youth for Peace) and YCHD (Youth and Child Hope Development Organization). He was an active member in promoting culture of peace for social change in development with justice, good governance, transparency, responsibility, social value/morality, equity, reconciliation, unity, harmony and peace. He is also a guest lecturer on spiritual training, i.e. virtuous/spiritual leadership, moral communication skill, mental conflict resolution, active non-violence, Dhamma discourse, meditation/ mental culture etc.. He is the messenger of SILAKA's contribution to the community in building peace and harmony in society, the country and in the world. He joined SILAKA team in August 2005.
